Tung Tongue Cleaning Gel
Tung Gel is a refreshingly minty cleansing formula designed to help loosen and remove bacteria from the tongue crevices. Specially designed by a Dentist and for use with the Tung Brush, Tung Gel can also be used with any Tongue Cleaner or Scraper.
Tung’s unique and specially designed formula contains Zinc compounds which help to neutralise the sulphur gas (what we smell as bad breath) emitted by the bacteria found on the tongue or in the mouth. The advanced Tung formula helps to freshen your breath, loosens, and remove harmful bacteria from the Tongue and won’t clog your toothbrush.
When using in conjunction with the Tung Brush the Tung Tongue Cleaning System creates the most effective Tongue Cleaning Remedy Yet! Tung Tongue Cleaner and Gel is designed to remove bacteria on the tongue to improve oral health and prevent bad breath.
As clinical research shows the that odour-causing bacteria on the tongue is the #1 cause of bad breath, there is no better tool to get rid of that nasty bacteria and ‘tongue gunk’ than the TUNG Brush and TUNG Gel.
Why Not Just Use Toothpaste?
Standard toothpastes often contain fluoride, teeth-whitening and tartar control chemicals that may cause tongue irritation. The highly water-soluble Tung Gel rinses clean, leaving no residue build-up on the brush or on your tongue. When finished, it leaves your tongue feeling tingly and your breath fresh.
Further to this, Toothpaste is often quite ‘sticky ‘and will clog up your toothbrush bristles. Unfortunately, this provides an environment that is ideal for the growth of bacteria when you’re not using your brush.
To top it off, it is a bad practice to brush your teeth with the same brush that was exposed to the high levels of bacteria on your tongue, because it has the potential to introduce those bacteria to your gums and bloodstream!
Brush, Floss, Brush… Your Tongue
Brushing cleans the teeth. Flossing cleans between them. Neither touches the tongue — and the tongue is where most of the bacteria in your mouth actually live, held in the crevices between the papillae where rinsing can’t reach them. TUNG built the first purpose-made tongue brushing system around that gap, and the routine it’s designed for is a third step, not a substitute for the first two: brush, floss, then brush your tongue. It takes about ten seconds and it’s the difference between a mouth that feels clean and a mouth that is.

Which TUNG Is Right For You?
Brushes and gels are designed to work together. The brush does the mechanical work; the gel loosens the deposits first so the brush has less to fight.

Do I need the gel, or is the brush enough?
The brush does the mechanical work and will clean your tongue on its own. The gel does two things the brush can’t: it loosens and softens the coating so the bristles have less to fight, and it adds zinc, which neutralises the sulphur gases behind bad breath rather than simply removing the bacteria producing them. They’re designed as a system.
Can I just use toothpaste instead?
It’s the most common substitution and it’s the wrong tool. Toothpaste is built for enamel — it carries abrasives, and usually fluoride, whitening agents and tartar-control chemicals that can irritate tongue tissue. It contains no zinc. And it’s sticky: it clogs into the bristles and stays there, turning the brush head into somewhere bacteria can grow between uses. Tung Gel is highly water-soluble by design and rinses clean off both the brush and your tongue.
Is the mint very strong?
It is a proper mint — noticeably stronger than most toothpastes, and some people love that while others find it sharp. If you’d prefer something different, Tung Natural Gel in Mint Blast is a cleaner, cooler mint with no artificial flavours, and Tung Kids Gel in wild strawberry has no mint at all and works exactly the same way for adults.
Do I swallow it or spit it out?
Rinse and spit, exactly as you would with toothpaste. Don’t swallow the gel.
Does it contain fluoride?
No. It’s a tongue cleaning gel, not a toothpaste, and it isn’t a substitute for your fluoride toothpaste — it’s the third step after brushing and flossing.
How long does an 85g tube last?
A pea-sized amount twice a day works out to roughly three to four months for one person. The 85g tube is considerably larger than the sample that comes with the brush.
Can I use it with a tongue scraper instead of a Tung Brush?
Yes — it works with any tongue cleaner or scraper you already own. It’s formulated around the Tung Brush, which is where you’ll get the most from it, but there’s nothing stopping you using it with something else.
Will it fix my bad breath?
Most bad breath originates on the tongue, so cleaning the tongue properly is the highest-value thing most people can change — and zinc addresses the odour gases directly rather than masking them the way a mouthwash does. If your breath doesn’t improve after a couple of weeks of daily tongue cleaning, the cause is likely elsewhere: gum disease, a dry mouth, sinus issues, reflux or medication are all common culprits. That’s a conversation for your dentist.
Is it safe to use every day?
Yes — daily use is what it’s designed for. If your tongue feels irritated, ease off the pressure and speak to your dentist.
