Tung Natural Tongue Cleaning Gel — Mint Blast

Tung Gel Natural does everything the original does, using a shorter and cleaner ingredient list.

The active thinking is unchanged: a zinc compound to neutralise the sulphur gases that odour-causing bacteria give off, and a highly water-soluble base that lifts and carries away the bacterial film sitting in the crevices of the tongue. Zinc lactate replaces zinc chloride, stevia replaces sodium saccharin, and the parabens and artificial colour come out entirely. Every ingredient in the formulation appears on the Natural Products Association list.

The flavour is a step up in intensity from the original fresh mint — Mint Blast is brighter and colder, and it rinses clean without leaving residue on the brush head or a film on the tongue.

Original or Natural — Which Should I Choose?

Both do the same job. The difference is what’s in the tube.

• Choose the Original if you like the classic fresh mint and the ingredient list isn’t something you think about.
• Choose Natural if you avoid fluoride and SLS elsewhere in your oral care, prefer stevia to saccharin, or want a paraben-free and colour-free formulation. The Mint Blast flavour is the stronger of the two.

One honest note: “natural” is not a term the regulators define, so it means different things on different labels. What it means here is specific and checkable — every ingredient is on the Natural Products Association list, the formulation is gluten free, and it isn’t tested on animals.

Why Not Just Use Toothpaste?

Toothpaste is built for enamel, not for tongue tissue. It carries abrasives and, in most cases, fluoride, whitening agents and tartar-control chemicals that can irritate the tongue — and it contains no zinc, which is the part that actually deals with the smell.

It’s also sticky. Toothpaste clogs into the bristles and stays there, which is the last thing you want in a brush head that has just been through the most bacteria-dense surface in your mouth. Tung Gel is highly water-soluble by design: it rinses clean off the brush and off the tongue.

Neither touches the tongue — and the tongue is where most of the bacteria in your mouth actually live, held in the crevices between the papillae where rinsing can’t reach them.
