Tung Tongue Cleaner Cleaning Brush
Specifically designed by a dentist for the anatomy of the tongue, the short, firm bristles effectively and comfortably work through the sticky tongue plaque that forms over the irregular surface of the tongue penetrating the crevices and removing bacteria.
The low profile and large head design allows for quick and efficient cleansing on the back portion of the tongue without gagging.
Tung Tongue Cleaners are designed to remove bacteria on the tongue to improve oral health and prevent bad breath.
Tung Tongue Cleaners are best used with Tung Cleaning Gel to help loosen and soften bacterial deposits.
Tung Tongue Cleaners come in a variety of coloured bristles including Green, Blue, Red, Pink, Purple and Yellow.
Why Not Just Use Your Toothbrush?
Toothbrushes are designed specifically for the teeth and gums and are ineffective for removing bacteria from the tongue.
The long, soft bristles of a toothbrush over-flex and lie flat as they move across the tongue surface, rendering the effort ineffective as the plaque is pushed around rather than removed.
In addition, the narrow, high profile design quickly triggers the gag reflex as it approaches the back of the tongue. The TUNG Brush allows you to comfortably and effectively reach the back of the tongue where the majority of the odor-causing bacteria are located.
To top it off, it is a bad practice to brush your teeth with the same brush that was exposed to the high levels of bacteria on your tongue, because it has the potential to introduce those bacteria to your gums and bloodstream!
Brush, Floss, Brush… Your Tongue
Brushing cleans the teeth. Flossing cleans between them. Neither touches the tongue — and the tongue is where most of the bacteria in your mouth actually live, held in the crevices between the papillae where rinsing can’t reach them. TUNG built the first purpose-made tongue brushing system around that gap, and the routine it’s designed for is a third step, not a substitute for the first two: brush, floss, then brush your tongue. It takes about ten seconds and it’s the difference between a mouth that feels clean and a mouth that is.

Which TUNG Is Right For You?
Brushes and gels are designed to work together. The brush does the mechanical work; the gel loosens the deposits first so the brush has less to fight.

Is a tongue brush better than a tongue scraper?
They do different things. A scraper skims across the surface and lifts off whatever is sitting on top. A brush works into the crevices between the papillae, which is where the bacteria actually sit — a scraper passes straight over them. Most people who switch from a scraper to the Tung Brush notice the difference immediately, which is the single most common thing our customers tell us about this product.
How far back on my tongue should I be brushing?
As far back as is comfortable, and no further. The bulk of odour-causing bacteria sits on the rear third of the tongue, so that’s the target — but the Tung Brush head is deliberately wide and low-profile, which is what lets it cover ground quickly without triggering the gag reflex. If you’re after a tool that reaches right to the very back of the throat, a narrow-headed cleaner will get physically further back, at the cost of gagging. It’s a genuine trade-off and worth knowing before you buy.
Will it make me gag?
Far less than a toothbrush. The low profile is the reason — a toothbrush’s tall, narrow head hits the soft palate on the way back. If you do gag, start further forward and work backwards over a week or two. Most people adapt quickly.
How often should I clean my tongue?
Every time you brush your teeth — so twice a day for most people. It takes about ten seconds. Mornings matter most, because bacteria multiply overnight while saliva flow is at its lowest.
Can’t I just use my toothbrush?
You can, but it doesn’t work well. Toothbrush bristles are long and soft, built to flex around teeth and gums — on the tongue they over-flex and lie flat, pushing the coating around rather than lifting it out. There’s also a hygiene issue: brushing your teeth with a brush that’s just been through the most bacteria-dense surface in your mouth moves that bacteria onto your gums.
My tongue looks white or coated. Will this help?
A white or coated tongue is usually a build-up of bacteria, food debris and dead cells, and mechanical cleaning is exactly what shifts it — most people see a visible change within a few days. If the coating doesn’t improve after a week or two of daily cleaning, or it’s sore, patchy or doesn’t wipe away at all, see your dentist or GP. There are other causes worth ruling out.
How often should I replace it?
Every three months, at the same time you replace your toothbrush — or sooner if the bristles start to splay. Splayed bristles stop reaching into the crevices, which is the whole point of the brush.
Can my partner and I share one?
No. Tongue brushes are more personal than toothbrushes, not less — sharing one moves bacteria between mouths rather than out of them. If you need more than one, the Tung Brush 4 Pack comes in assorted colours for exactly this reason.
Do I need the gel as well?
The brush works on its own, and each one comes with a free Tung Gel sample so you can try it. The gel loosens the coating first and adds zinc, which neutralises the sulphur gases rather than just removing the bacteria producing them. Most people who use both don’t go back to the brush alone.
